London now less than 60 minutes away!

In December 2009 Southeastern trains introduced the UK's first domestic high speed service connecting 21 stations in Kent, including Canterbury, to London St. Pancras Station.

This service has cut the journey times to and from London from 90 to less than 60 minutes.

CLT clients arriving at Heathrow and Gatwick airports can now make direct connections via London St. Pancras using under- or overground rail services, significantly simplifying journeys and reducing journey times.

The service is also a bonus for clients wishing to go to London for a day, or for the weekend, whilst training with us in Canterbury. We will shortly be publishing a new page of travel information based on the high speed service on this website .

English with, and through, Golf

There are many English plus Golf programmes available on the market. Most of them separate the language training from the 'leisure' activity.

We have developed tailor made programmes in which the time spent playing golf represents a further opportunity to practise communication skills. The client is partnered with two or three retired (or semi-retired) professionals (native speakers) for the golfing sessions and given specific networking objectives by the language trainer who can provide input and feedback. The golf becomes an activity within the context of the communication skills training.

It is particularly useful for executives for whom networking is a key business tool, and who enjoy a round of golf of course!

We are currently producing a small brochure with full details and some case studies. It will be available on this website shortly. In the meantime, enquiries should be addressed directly to John Miles at john@clt.com .

Fine Tuning

A two day programme for senior managers at advanced level - dealing with language, culture and behaviour issues. The objective is to 'fine tune' communication skills in order to achieve better business performance.

Fine Tuning

Many senior international managers, with advanced English communication skills, report the following issues:

  • they are conscious of still making language ‘mistakes’
  • they are not sure which ‘mistakes’ might be important
  • no one corrects their English
  • it could be that these ‘mistakes’ are not language issues, but cultural issues
  • sometimes the reaction of communication partners is not what they expect
  • they need reassurance that their approach to relationship building in English is effective
  • the success of a deal often hinges on very fine details of communication and behaviour

This programme was developed in 2008 for the HR Director of a Swedish bank and the CFO of a French company. We are now offering it as part of our courses portfolio. Full brochure available here:
